Software fixes for iPhones, Macs, and Windows computers

When a device starts acting strangely, the cause is usually something that can be found and fixed from the inside: a program that shouldn't be there, an incorrect system setting, an update that never finished.

I sit down at your own computer, phone, or tablet and work through it with you beside me, so you can see what is happening and ask questions along the way.

Virus and Malware Cleanup

Pop-ups you didn't ask for, a browser that keeps changing its home page, and programs you don't remember installing are the usual signs. I review what's installed, what's running, and how the browser is set up. I remove what doesn't belong, update what's out of date, and explain what I found in plain language.

If the cleanup process points to an account that needs a new password, we change it together before I leave.

Slow Computers and Common Errors

Many slowdowns and glitches trace back to settings, startup programs, or software that needs attention. Here's what I work on:

  • Computers that are slow to start or slow to respond

  • Programs and apps that freeze or won't open

  • Browser, email, and app problems, including sign-in and sync trouble

  • Updates and settings that aren't behaving

  • Unwanted toolbars, extensions, and programs

  • Windows laptops and desktops

  • Apple MacBooks, iMacs, Macs, iPhones, and iPads

The Software Side of Your Devices

My work focuses on your device's software. For physical repairs such as cracked screens or failed components, the manufacturer or an authorized repair shop is the right place to start, and I'm glad to help you set up the repaired device afterward.

What Happens During a Visit
  1. I look first. You show me what's happening, and I check the symptoms, settings, and installed programs before I change anything.

  2. I explain clearly what I found and the solutions I recommend. You decide which ones I implement. My goal is for your device to work properly and you to feel comfortable using it.

  3. I perform the repairs and demonstrate what I have done. Before I leave, you can ask any questions.

Keeping It That Way

Once the problem is solved, the natural question is how to keep it from coming back.

The Foundation Project sets up virus and malware protection, a password manager, and multi-factor authentication across your Windows and Apple devices. It's optional, and there's no pressure to decide during the visit.
